Cinco De Mayo in Chattanooga

It's Cinco De Mayo on Saturday and you know how Chattanooga loves a good celebration. You won't want to miss Running of the Chihuahuas or all the queso and margarita specials. The holiday initially celebrated the date of the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla but the U.S has pretty much turned it into a day to celebrate Mexican history and culture. This list was first created by and you can find it here:

Highland Park Latin American Festival — 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Fourth annual Latin Festival and Latino-American Soccer Cup 2018 will be Saturday afternoon at Highland Park Commons. The festival is a free community celebration with event proceeds donated to Chattanooga’s State’s Latino Scholarship Fun and the Bridges to Success Program.

Running of the Chihuahuas 11 — 2-8 p.m. The First Tennessee Pavilion is home to the annual Running of the Chihuahuas event. More than 150 dogs are expected to attend. Performers include Nina Nesbitt, LIVVIA, The Unlikely Candidates, Bryce Vine, and Nick Lutsko.

The Big Chill: Cinco de Mayo — 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. A house DJ will be spinning tunes all night and Coronas are $2 with $5 frozen margaritas.

Cinco de Mayo Cheese Nachos: Bleu Fox Cheese Shop — 12-2 p.m. What more do you want? It’s cheesy nachos and you can bet they’ll be some of the best you’ve ever had. The shop is serving them up until they’re gone. The early bird gets the cheese, in other words.

Bitter Block Party: The Bitter Alibi — 9 a.m. to midnight DJ Ben Lee will be spinning reggaeton and “music that makes you move” and guests can eat tacos, sip margaritas, micheladas and tequila.

Cinco de Mayo at The Underground Bar (Coyote Jacks) — 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. HI$E COLD will perform at The Underground Bar at Coyote Jacks for a Cinco de Mayo celebration. The first 50 people to arrive will receive “something special” with a paid $3 admission. Expect tequila specials and more.

Abuelo’s Cinco de Mayo — 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Located at Hamilton Place, Abuelo’s will offer $6.95 Flag Margaritas and $5 Mexican draft beer all day.

Derby de Mayo at 2 on the Roof — 4:30-8 p.m. A celebration of both the Kentucky Derby and Cinco de Mayo, Chattanooga Room in the Inn presents Derby de Mayo. Festivities include televised coverage of the 144th Run for the Rose, call to the post and silent auction, complimentaryHors-d’oeuvress, beer & wine, margaritas, and mint juleps. Tickets are $75 per person.

Barley’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta — 8 p.m. to close Local music will highlight an evening “fiesta” at Barley Chattanooga. John Konner will perform his own hip-hop songs and Shaky’s Bad Knee will close out the night.

Hutton & Smith party — 12 p.m. to midnight The taproom at Hutton & Smith has doubled in size. Guests can lounge on the silver couches and check out the new barrel aging program. A new beer—Oh My Gato Gose—is a margarita gose.

Cinco de Mayo at Sluggo’s — 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Five dollars for 5 bands: Lacing, The Baby Born With the End of the World, Maelvich, She Blinded Me with Boxcutters and Prayer Circle.

Second annual Cinco de Mayo sombrero party — 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Regan’s Place & Westbound Bar will host a sombrero party. The first fifty guests in each venue will receive a free sombrero for the Mexican-American theme. Admission is $10 and will give you access to both venues.

Beer-o de Mayo at Jack Browns Beer & Burger Joint — 11 a.m. to midnight There’s very little information on this one, but it’s safe to assume that beer specials will be available and you can eat a burger.

The Music Box at Ziggy’s: Cinco de Mayo — 9:45 p.m. to 1:45 a.m. The third installment of a hip-hop charity show returns on Saturday night. The show is a benefit for Brainerd Church of Christ’s Snack Pak ministry and the Tri-State Exhibition Reinbow Riding Center.
