Erika Cookes Killer Month

I asked our Rock Star Agent Erika Cooke these questions and below is her answer...

Edrington Team: This past month was a really great month for you, what do you think you did differently?

Erika Cooke: Thank you Meghan! I am definitely pleased with 2018 so far! Of course, that came from a lot of hard work in 2017. I have learned so much about prospecting this year and I believe that is really what made the difference for January 2018. Making my calls every day and following up with potential clients has made all the difference. I also began tracking my calls and conversations, which has made a big difference as well.

ET: Erika you are off to a great start this year, where do you find your motivation?

EC: Motivation is certainly key for this line of work. I am a goal oriented person, so I like to set small goals along the way to motivate myself and ultimately reach my large yearly goal. My first year it was to be Rookie of the Year. This year, I would love to sell 50 homes!

ET: What would you contribute your drive to?

EC: What would I contribute my drive to.... I think I have just always enjoyed taking the hard route!! I like a challenge and I can easily get bored. This is why I love real estate. It is always changing and we are always needing to adapt to new clients, a new market, etc. Also, I am a single mother, so providing a good life for my daughter is a large factor in my drive. Not only do I want to provide for her financially, but I also want to set a good example of work ethic and success for her. She is learning that becoming successful is very hard work and there are sacrifices, but it will certainly pay off if you put in the effort and provide good service. I also love taking care of people and this job allows me to do just that.

ET: If you had any advice for a new agent, what would you say?

EC: Advice for a new agent... To a new agent I would say, number one, make sure you truly know all about the real estate career before you make a career change. Talk to a successful agent and get an idea of the crazy schedules that we sometimes have and the ups and downs that we all face in the business. I believe real estate has to be a passion in order for you to succeed. If you have that passion, research research research before you join a company. Your company and your coworkers can truly make your job so much more enjoyable if you are in the right place. Make sure they provide quality training and plenty of support, because you will have LOTS of questions when you start!

ET: 2018 holds some big goals for you, what are you most looking forward to accomplishing?

EC: In 2018, I am really looking forward to selling more homes than I ever have in my career. I am also excited about the level of training I am receiving through the Team. Every week I am becoming more knowledgeable so I can provide the very best service available for my clients.

ET: Any crazy goals you want us to hold you accountable for?

EC: Accountability is HUGE on our team. It is so nice to work with others that truly care if you accomplish your goals. I would say, other than my sales goal for the year, I am really focusing on bettering myself as a whole. I had some difficult times over the past year and I really lost focus of taking care of myself. This year, I want to be a healthier, more positive person and I think I am surrounded by the perfect people to be able to accomplish that! It can be easy to become discouraged at times in the sales business, and I am so lucky to have a mentor and coworkers that are keeping me focused on positivity this year! My goal is to get to the end of 2018 as an all around better Erika - in my business and in my personal life! Its going to be a fabulous year!
