Chattanooga's Independence Day Celebration July 3, 2017
A FREE Event at Coolidge Park
The 2017 Pops on the River Independence Day celebration will take place on July 3, in Coolidge Park, thanks to the support of the City of Chattanooga and ArtsBuild, along with sponsorship from Integrity Buick GMC Cadillac and Integrity Chevrolet and Erlanger Heart & Lung Institute. This popular community event will feature a FREE outdoor patriotic concert by the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera (CSO) as well as performances from veteran songwriters with “Operation Song.” A large fireworks display is scheduled for its conclusion at approximately 9:45pm.
Entertainment will start at 5:00 pm with a special tribute to veterans, featuring Veteran songwriters in the round with Operation Song. From 5:00-7:00 pm, hear stories from veterans and listen to their talented songwriting. The Operation Song portion is sponsored by Merrill Lynch and Erlanger. Then at 8:00 pm, the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will begin their patriotic program featuring favorites such as the “Armed Forces Salute,” “Colonel Bogey's March,” “Stars and Stripes Forever” and “1812 Overture.” The symphony will be directed by conductor Kayoko Dan, and the program will feature a guest appearance by bluegrass band, the Dismembered Tennesseans.
The fireworks display, shot from the neighboring Renaissance Park, will begin immediately upon the conclusion of the symphony’s performance at approximately 9:45 PM.
