Mothers Day in Chattanooga

Since Mother’s Day is right around the corner, it’s time to start preparing. Whether you’re shopping for special gifts or enjoying Sunday brunch, celebrate mom with these memorable experiences.

Named a “Top 10 Public Market in America” by Frommers, the Chattanooga Market is filled with handcrafted jewelry, artwork, fruits, veggies, and food trucks. For Mother’s Day, the market rolls out a selection of wines and champagnes, locally made chocolates, and live music. Prepare to spend several hours to experience everything. And check out the River Market (Saturdays, 10am-5pm) on the Tennessee Aquarium plaza.

An extension of the Tennessee Aquarium, the high-tech River Gorge Explorer zips 10 miles into the Tennessee River Gorge at speeds of 50 mph. While you ride, experience nature up close with a special animal encounter and learn about interesting maternal practices in the wild.

For a more relaxing journey, experience what early river travel was like on the Southern Belle Riverboat. Treat yourself to a two-hour cruise with live music, tours of the pilot house, and a delicious buffet-style dinner.

Let mom be a kid again and treat the whole family to an unforgettable time at Lake Winnepesaukah, the South’s favorite family amusement park. Bring a carload (up to five) and pay only $100 for unlimited rides. And don’t forget to check out the new thrill ride for 2016, Twister.

With a special spring menu of signature dishes and seasonally-inspired breakfast entrees, the Mother’s Day Brunch on the Bluff is not something to be missed. And it’s hard to beat the restaurant’s views of the river.
