The Ultimate Food Fight Experience
The most anticipated event for all Chattanooga “foodies” out there is THIS Sunday! As many of you know this week has been Chattanooga Restaurant Week. This is an annual celebration of our city’s amazing chefs and restaurants! Chattanooga is known for it’s top-notch cuisine and local fresh ingredients. Chattanooga Restaurant Week shines a light on both of these things.
“It’s a reason to eat out, explore new restaurants, and allow a chef to treat your palette to something different.”
Each restaurant participating has been a Chattanooga original. Restaurants like 212 Market Restaurant, Alleia, Café on the Corner, Broad Street Grille, Easy Bistro & Bar, The Feed and 20+ others have been pulling out all the stops this week with special menus highlighting local farms and seasonal items.
Restaurant Week happens every year so if you missed it, don’t worry! One of the most exciting parts of this event is this weekend! The FiveStar Food Fight is this Sunday from 11-4 and you’ve got to be there!
Five local chefs will compete LIVE under the Tennessee Pavilion as Market goers watch their every move. These chefs will have to be creative, and extraordinary to win over the Judges.
They will not know the main ingredient until the clock strikes 11:30. With no time to plan ahead it’s like,
Our very own Chopped show live in at the Chattanooga Market!!
Right at 11:30 these five chefs will be given the main ingredient of either chicken, pork, beef, or fish, and then told to pick and choose amongst the freshest fruits, vegetables, spices, and cheeses from the Market to make these dishes unforgettable.
The participating chefs are..
Eric Fulkerson – Bald Headed Bistro (returning 2015 champ)
Patrick Halloran – Hummingbird Pastaria
Michael Blanton – Five
Adam Roe – The Chattanoogan Hotel
David Wright – The Flying Squirrel
I think I may try to learn a thing or two by watching their every move. Market goers are encouraged to watch, and follow the chefs as they find the perfect ingredients to make their dishes. Since these chefs are cooking on the fly, action and entertainment are guaranteed, and competition will surely be fierce!
“From about 12:30 till 2:30pm market patrons will watch the chefs demonstrate their culinary skills using FiveStar cooking ranges, a longtime Market sponsor. Emcee, Kelley McCoy of KZ106, will give the play-by-play on what each chef is preparing, their ingredients and provide the audience with personal interviews from each.”
A panel of judges will choose whose dish is best and the winner will receive bragging rights as well as a golden ticket to The 2016 World Food Championships.
There is nothing us “noogan” love more than fresh food, live music, and a reason to get outside with friends and family. It’s events like these that make making Chattanooga your home a smart choice.
